Queen Helene® products have been around for as long as I can remember. When I was a little girl I remember going to the drugstore and seeing her masks and lotions and seeing my mother buying them to use on her face and body. The line has been a staple in the beauty business for 75 years!
Founder Richard Estrin moved to New York, where he began as a beauty supply house salesman. Wanting to expand his knowledge of the ingredients used in the professional beauty industry, Mr. Estrin obtained a degree in Chemistry. He used his new degree to become a partner in Para Laboratories, a small New York City cosmetics laboratory. He traveled the country with two other sales representatives, Eddie and Sam. While on one of their trips to Oklahoma, Eddie’s wife was back in New York giving birth to a baby girl they named Helene. Mr. Estrin was extremely happy for Eddie and congratulated him by saying, "You now have a Queen Helene. At Para Laboratories, Mr. Estrin was inspired to create a line of hair and skin care products using the best ingredients, and the Queen Helene® brand was born. After successfully launching in beauty salons, Mr. Estrin brought the Queen Helene® brand to beauty supply stores. With modern equipment and a larger facility, the Estrins were able to meet the growing demand for Queen Helene® products, as the brand became a well-known name in drug stores and supermarkets. Queen Helene® now produces over 100 different products for the face, body, feet, hair and scalp. Some of these products have been consistently used since the early 1930s. The Queen Helene Oatmeal 'n Honey Scrub is a wholesome facial scrub that helps to draw out impurities from the skin and also helps to remove dead, dry skin cells. Soothing Oatmeal and Honey nourish the skin and help improve its moisture retention level. Tiny crushed up walnut shells exfoliate the skin, leaving it feeling extremely smooth and soft after use. When you are done with this scrub, skin is refreshed and smooth with a healthy complexion. To give yourself an at home facial, use this scrub before using one of the Queen Helene masks. You will have skin that is brightened, exfoliated, smoothed and softened. This scrub is for normal to dry skin, but works well on oilier skins too.
Even though this scrub has crushed up walnut shells, they are not too harsh on the skin. I found it to be just the right amount of exfoliation. I love the way this scrub smells, as the oatmeal and honey make it smell yummy. This scrub is very nice and it is well tolerated by just about anyone except those with extremely sensitive skins.

The Queen Helene® Volcanic Ash Masque is a skin detoxifying facial masque that harnesses the purifying power of Volcanic Ash (also known as Bentonite) to deeply clean skin. Known for its ability to draw out impurities and pollutants in the skin, Volcanic Ash acts like a magnet for pollutants, bringing them to the surface of the skin so they can be washed away. The result is refreshed, renewed skin. This mask deeply cleans and purifies the skin. It is anti-pollution. This mask is for oilier skin types. I love the retro packaging.
How To Use: Apply over cleansed face. Avoid eye area. After 5 to 10 minutes, rinse with warm water. Moisturize with an appropriate moisturizer for your skin type.

Queen Helene® AVocado & Grapefruit Masque is a gel-clay masque that lifts away impurities and nurtures skin with smoothing Avocado and antioxidant Grapefruit extract. After use, skin is refreshed and energized with a healthy radiance. This mask is mainly for normal to dry skin types.
How To Use: Apply over cleansed face. Avoid eye area. After 5 to 10 minutes, rinse with warm water. Then apply a moisturizer appropriate for your skin type.

Queen Helene® Shea Butter Face & Body Crème is a nourishing crème that features rich Shea Butter to deeply hydrate skin. Packed with fatty acids, Shea Butter has been used for centuries as the ultimate moisturizer. Its inherent calming properties work especially well on sensitive or irritated skin. The result is smooth, supple skin. It also calms sensitive skin very well, if skin is dry and itchy.
I found this cream to be especially good for my very dry skin during the winter. My skin is extremely dry, so much that if you run your fingernail over my skin you will see white (dead skin cells). I have to exfoliate and moisturize a lot. Shea butter is very moisturizing and good for dry skin. It hydrates and moisturizes the skin and keeps it that way so that skin stays soft, supple and feeling wonderful during the entire year. I even have problems with dry skin during the summer. I just have to lighten up my routine a little so that I don't feel greasy in the heat. This is a heavy cream but it sinks into the skin quickly so that it doesn't feel so greasy. It also has an intoxicating aroma that I adore!!!! My skin gets very itchy too and this cream helps to calm the itchiness, making it feel soothed and calmed. I love it so much. The new masks have a retro look that is fun and very 1960's.
